In some rar cases i had to use a Syringe on the bleeder to press the brake fluid from the caliper to the MC. Air bubbles goes easier up than down the brake line:whistle:

Are you keeping the end of the hose on your brake bleeder submerged in brake fluid as you go through the bleeding process?

In case it needs to be said, he would have to temporarily remove the MP mini-bleeder, then re-install it to bleed the brakes.
Or he could unbolt the caliper, shim the brake pads as tight as possible, and elevate the caliper with the bleeder nipple pointing upwards >> this is how I've done it. mine is just a single disk, so I haven't had any problems doing the job.

Thanks for all your help everyone, it turns out that it was the amount of free play in the cable. The cable tension adjuster was on too tight and it wasn't letting the piston travel all the way to the end of the bore and collect the brake fluid. Loosened the adjuster to allow for the factory setting of free play at the lever and the lever firmed right up and the brakes functioned perfectly.
