I put the rim locks back on after spinning a couple of nipples off due to some extra slippery tire lube I was using.
After a couple of changes I have figured out how to work around them, no big deal.
It's a lot easier then having to get a trailer-ed bike back home.

yes rim locks are needed on the rear....if for some reason the tire spends your valve will get cut off and end up with a flat.
also i have three sets of shinko tires and all need between 2 and 3 oz. not very well built and some are not mark to show the heavy side of the tire.

The Shinko 777's we bought for my wife's bike have the marks.

The Avon Roadriders I just put on mine don't  I used 38 grams on the front and 41 on the back, the weights ended up opposite the stems on both tires.

Performance Cycle is a good dealer, and I've known the owner Don for nearly 40yrs. You can take what they tell you as the truth in my opinion. That said though, it still seems the tire is not a great tire if it takes that much weight to balance.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
