+1 use clean brake fluid for cleaning, and penetrating oil for dismantling. Silicon should be avoided with brake parts.


The filling the caliper through the bleed nipple with a compressed piston works quite well. When the whole system is full of bubbles it is hard even to get it spongy first to bleed. A vacuum pump or even just a check valve with a long bleed hose works well in this situation.
