This is the one I have - it's got the supplements for the Z1-R, Z1-R MKII and Z1000 MkII. Mine came in B/W (except for the front cover) so I had to get them to send the wiring diagrams separately in colour - no problem there - they sent me soft copies!

Mcdroid, There's a 78' KZ1000 Service Manual on ebay. Even though mines a 77', would there be a lot of difference?

What's the item number of the ebay ad?
Or post a link to the ad.
Will enable checking the ad itself to see exactly what manual is offered.

Am more familiar with the following service manual Part No. 99931-540-03 covering 1977, 1978 and 1979:

Factory Service Manuals are iterative.
They start with the first year of that model. Each succeeding year they add an appendix showing the differences between the first year and the next year.
Say the first year was 1975. The 75 manual would show everything. Then they released a 76 model. The 76 manual wopuld have the 75 manual with an appendix for 76 that showed the changes. The 77 manual would have the 75 manual with the 76 appendix and the 77 appendix. Etc.

Patton, There are 2 manuals listed. One is item # 251457521351 77' KZ1000 missing a few pages? The other is item # 161122974827 78' KZ1000 Not sure which one to purchase or go with that reprint I posted earlier from New Zealand?

Would call before ordering to inquire about actual availability.

Am still poking around for something less expensive, but so far would favor the manual from New Zealand.

As shown in the "Remarks" on the back cover of FSM (Factory Service Manual) Part No. 99931-540-03, some differences on the 1978 model include:
Slight difference in carbs;
Vacuum operated petcock;
Front brake caliper on rear of fork leg.

Patton, Stephen from e-classicbike.com seems to be a pretty good guy to work with on the manuals from New Zealand. Will probably go with them.
