I'm in the process of swapping a ZRX 1200 swing arm and rear wheel onto my "77 Kz 1000 and am having trouble finding a rear brake caliper for it. Does anyone know if there are any calipers that are compatible with the ZRX setup? I've done all of the normal searches and am coming up empty. Any info would be most appreciated.

Pretty sure that most Zx7/9/11 rear calipers are the same. Also may look at some older Gsxr calipers. Pay attention to the bleeder location to ease bleeding.

You can also grab a PDF of EBC Brakes catalog and cross reference brake pad applications.

I think the caliper mount brackets are different. The ZX11 has a brake stay, and I believe the ZX9 has a slot in the bracket that slides over a bar on the swing arm instead of a brake stay. The ZX7 I don't know.

Go to the kawasaki.com parts diagrams and start comparing part numbers. If the ZRX1200 has the rotating axle adjusters, then look for others that use the same adjusters (ZX11).

Why not shop eBay and the ZRXOA board for the ZRX1200 caliper and bracket?

I have the bracket I just can't find the caliper. I've been all over eBay and couldn't find one. I must really be losing it because I went to the Kawasaki site 3 times and and couldn't find the parts diagrams...lol

according to Kawasaki, that caliper is unique to the ZRX1200

That's what I'm finding out and the cheapest one found so far is $267 so I may have to bite the bullet and dig deep and get it.

You guys are making this way more complicated than needed. Yes, the part number is unique to the ZRX12 because of the color. But the Zx12 uses the same part number for brake pads and a cross-reference with EBC shows all the Kawasaki bikes that use the same pad.

Like I mentioned earlier, Zx7 and Zx11 calipers should work. I was wrong about the Zx9, however.

Good luck!

Perhaps Doug is making it too simple. Just because all those models use the same pad, does not mean that the mounting holds are spaced the same, or that they all use the same brake stay.
