front rotor size 1977 kz 650 ?

got some 77 1000 forks, then some 77 650 spoke rims , then a front 650 caliper , all from ebey at diff times about a year ago . rear did fine after swapping 1000 sprocket hub with a 650 sprocket hub. the front rim came with rotor , the front rim mounted to forks fine but the caliper bolted to forks fine except the rotor is too tall by about 1/2 an inch . all this is going on a 77 650 . my question is,, do i need different rotor or caliper ?

Are you sure its not a 900/1000 rotor?

no not sure , the postig said 1977 kz 650/1000 wheels and rotor came with wheels . so is the 650 rotor smaller ?

Yeah its smaller,Ive got an extra 650 front end I can pull rotor off of if you want to trade

hey wireman , home again , measured the rotor it is 5 1/2 inch from center of axle to outer edge of rotor , does this match yours ? if so , i probably got the wrong caliper

Im heading to the barn here in about 20 minutes to do some digging,Ill bring the front end back to town with me when I come back and take a picture and post it for you.
How many rivets are on your rotor?

sorry got called away , there are 9 rivets , think i need the one with eight ? dont really know the eight rivets size , but from pics on ebay , they look a bit smaller than the 9 rivet , thanx for the help , greatly appreciated

Well Im back,the front wheel was already gone and I don't remember taking it off :blink:
Ive still got the fork legs and brake caliper and bracket for it though if you need them

do you know the size difference between the eight and nine rivets ?

I didn't measure a 1000 rotor while I was there,but I brought the fork tubes and caliper back with me I can measure if it helps.
I think mine is a 79-80 front end,it had a wire front wheel with caliper behind fork leg.
