if you're worried about out gassing throw it up in a toaster oven(everybody has to have an old toaster oven in their shop, right) at about 300F for a 1/2 hour or so.

Maybe some of the salt/ calcium chloride used during the winter was picked up during a wet ride? The banjo looks o be the Sacrificial anode, like the metal quality is suspect.

If there's electricity running through there, and the metal on the banjo is different than whatever it's connected to (i.e. one's aluminum, one's steel), you have the basic elements for Galvanic corrosion (same thing you see on battery terminals). I don't know much about the brake fluids other than not to mix in 5 with the older ones, but if it's conductive then it would severely speed that process.

Though I would suspect brake fluid shouldn't be conductive.

The funny thing is the old bango never caused an or this issue...its the same manufacturer, part number and looks 100% like the new one....shape, color and all. I changed the old one out do to a wire being cracked and copper exposed....think I just got a bad one.

I put on a new rec/regulator and the wire from the brake bango was lightly touching/lying on the outer cooling fin/block of the combo unit....the wire is not chafed and is brand new...but the combo unit might be transmitting engery though the wire to the bango unit...its only 1 inch from the combo unit.

I just dont know what to think.....

Hey guys....this is why I am thinking its an electric issue. Look what it did to this chrome hose fitting and the GALvinized finish on the bango.....this took place over a two week peiod????

This is not a brake fluid issue.....you can soak a chrome fitting in brake fluid for a year and it wont do this.

Im showing both sides of the chrome fitting...one has chrome left on it the other is gone.

by the way....the brake light worked fine during this.....both pedel and front lever

that's a crazy en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bango...nabis%29&redirect=no . go get a new banjo and try it again. :silly:

I wonder if it is the sender unit causing the current flow?

OK solved the problem....the battery overflow is just above and over from the bango fitting that was having issues....the overflow tube came off and any out-gassing of liquid from the battery was deposited in this area. Put a new tube on and problem solved.....this is why the chrome part was chewed up.....well thats the story and im sticking to it...LOL
