Anyone ever replace the rubber foot peg mounts
08 May 2012 23:45
I would really like to get rid of the rubber inserts in the foot peg mounts. Has anyone had any luck using a bushing of some sort? I was thinking about hitting the bronze bushing drawer a Ace Hardware to see what I could come up with.

The footpegs on the various model KZs are different. Please add your bike's year/model to your signature line. Ed

The ones that are in there now are shot. Plus I also don't like the squishy feel the pegs have when you put weight on it.

Unless you're a glutton for punishment I'd nix the bronze bushing idea. The rubber is there to cut down the vibrations transfered to your feet. If your dampners are shot I'd do as Martin suggested and just replace the rubber.
That bike is already pretty busy at highway speed adding a tooth to the front sprocket helps a bit and really doesn't affect your takeoff to any great degree.

The early KZ650 foot pegs have no rubber bushings; they bolt directly to the frame - no flex. I've never experienced a buzzy feeling through them. However, they are a different configuration than the 2-bolt style, so they can't be used on the newer bikes. Ed

never experienced a buzzy feeling through them -- perhaps feet were still numb from riding the BSA.

Hell, not just my feet! Lots of folks call me numbnuts; but I don't know why.

Maybe a good compromise would be poly bushings?
