Ok started out with a 78 KZ 650 frame thought it might make a sweet Bobber just wanted some opinions on what everyone thinks ill post pic as I go

Front end is a 81 KZ1000 I WAS TOLD would not fit into stock tripletree but slid in without a prob and the swing ARM was extended 4 in as well and was told it would not fit either but fit perfect go figure I've got a motor that I'm rebuilding ill post pic when I get home

hahaha thats awesome! ive road my fair share of rigids and dont mind it too much but im young, my buddy's dad rode his son's rigid to sturgis with us last year and that poor guy rode all day on that thing. He was in a fair amount of pain in the morning, then watching him have to kick start that big v-terd to continue the trip was even more brutal :S

That's funny looking pretty good so far got the motor in and an old gas tank off an old man don't know much about it but looks like its from the 60s or70s sorry I don't have pic yet but I will take some when the sun comes up can't sleep with so much 2 do on the bike lol

Well I used the same tubing they make funny cars out of and tig welded everything the material I used is way stronger than the original frame tubing also the extended swing ARM is welded at its pivot point and I am still going to add another piece across the new rails but still need to make a seat so that will be addresses at that point in time

Found ths old tank off some old chopper from the 70s looks like crap when I sat it on the bike so I took a grinder to it and cut the bottom out of it and dropped the front a B) bout 2in tank should hold about 2 gallons should be just enough to ride to work and back

The engine I got in it is just a mock up motor I just got the engine I'm using put back together and painted gloss black fresh rebuild on it just need to buff the covers out

By the way for the guy asking about the frame being solid enough the material i used is known as chrome Molly seamless tubing rated at 100000 psi which is 50tons if I did my math rite as far as I'm concerned its over killed

The 100,000 lb. rating you mention refers to tensile strength. Tensile strength is the measure of the amount of force it takes to pull a material apart (see video below of tensile strength test). Tensile strength is unrelated to how much a given material will flex.

To quote an article discussing the use of chrome-moly in bicycle frames:

Chromoly (Chrome Molybdenum) Steel
A workhorse of the industry, chromoly is a light, strong steel. When it is butted and shaped to take off excess weight, it can deliver a fairly light frame that will last through years of hard use. Chromoly is responsive and offers good flex while maintaining its form.

Flex is not out friend in motorcycle frames. This is why frames have so much triangulation built in - to reduce or hopefully eliminate frame flex. Once you reduce the frame to a single tube, you can expect flex. Believe it or not, even a rifle barrel flexes when a shot is fired through it, but that is not a reflection on the quality of the material being used. There’s a reason bikes with single tube frames are known as flexible flyers.
