smaller brake master cylnder was created by andler2008
well i screwed up and didnt check my master cylinder clearance for the new drag bars i got and now the master cylinder is clear in my way. i was wondering if anyone on here has gotten an aftermarket master cylinder set up off another bike that is substantially smaller. or if anyone has run into the same problem as me and how you fixed it.

I got this one from ebay I think i got it for about 50.00 it's the same one for multiple bikes the one listed for a kz1000 runs about about 79.00 they have them listed for other models that are alot cheaper.(it's the same part) and I love it piece of cake to install and work great

I had to run 31" wide drag bars on mine with I think a 3" pullback, the banjo bolt just hits the fork cap. If I had stayed with the ltd front end I'm pretty sure I would have cleared it no problem. I do plan to install bar risers though so I can drop my front end.

I run a master cylinder off of a Honda CBR 600 F4i and it works great. I have clip ons instead of drag bars though.

1977 KZ1000A With 1980 KZ1000A MKII engine, Wiseco 1105 kit, Dyna S Ignition, 3 Ohm Dyna Coils, Cams, Mikuni RS34 Carbs, Vance and Hines Pro Pipe with Comp Baffle

awesome thanks for the replies. now dejavoodo where did you get your gauges? they look alot smaller. are they mechanical? cause i want smaller gauges anyway this just gives me a reason to get them sooner.

and your starter switch looks a lot smaller. that alone would clear up alot of room on my bars.

There is a thread on CHOPCULT on how to get rid of your resevoir alltogether and just use a length of clear tubing for your MC. If I get a chance later I'll find it and link to it.

heres the link.
use Tygon tubing . .4 brake fluid will not eat it. i just bought some for mine. i got it on ebay, but have since learned that its not that rare. u should be able to find it localy. try Napa.

this is a sweet idea, anyone tried it on our kz's? im not extremely fond of the length of tubing just sticking up from the bars though...also our MC's are 5/8ths in. bore correct?

1979 kz659 sr- new acquisition NEXT project GONE

Both 650s combined to make one great bike! with a new powerplant

it is a 79 frame, 78 front end, both 78 wheels and brakes, 78 body work and a 80' 750-4 motor with gpz 750 cams and a kerker and...

I'm looking at the whole "changing bars" thing right now. I reckon I'll be getting one of these Master Cylinders. I also have to relocate my front indicators and shorten the cables.

I might give a bit of a plug to Mike from Z1 Enterprises. He's helped me heaps with figuring out what to do.

5/8" M/C bore to dual caliper.

14mm M/C bore to single caliper.

I picked up a Brembo radial MC to shave some room. The trick was finding one that worked for a single disc set-up AND wouldn't break the bank.

I have the same setup with the drag bars and the factory mc. It is right on the top of the fork.

Would a mc from a zx whatever work. I noticed it has the banjo bolt on the front rather than the end?
I've been thinking about swapping mine out cause it has a very slow leak past the mc piston.
