Thanks for the help T_Dub.

Fabbing my new swingarm today. Then I need to burn on the new shock mounts. Hopefully I will have it back on 2 wheels before long :)

These KZ650's have 16" rear wheels. Disk or drum is indicated next to model:

KZ650-D1 (SR) (1978) DISK
KZ650-D1A(SR) (1978) DISK
KZ650-D2 (SR) (1979) DISK
KZ650-E1 (LTD) (1980) DRUM
KZ650-H1 (CSR) (1981) DRUM
KZ650-H2 (CSR) (1982) DRUM
KZ650-H3 (CSR) (1983) DRUM

Yeah and the H1 and H2 had a spoke wheel, leaving his bike to be either the E1 or H3. Since he says its a 79 I'd say its an E1.

Probably so. If the bike is a E1 it's a 1980 model, but it may have been built in 1979 in which case that would be the year marked on the steering neck label. Somewhere along the line the title may have been marked with the build date (1979) rather than the model date. Ed

new hub showed up, I was hoping it would be as easy as swapping the hub sleeves over and bolting it on, but no luck. Guess the 650B's had different hub sleeves as well?

This just came up for me last night! The Sprocket hub from a spoke wheel doesn't fit the mag! Most of the hubs on ebay seem to be for spokes. I found a better looking wheel that comes with the hub and bought it! Also one part that always seems to be missing from wheel and axle sets is the "Rear Hub Sleeve" and these are not available and seldom seen on e bay!

I believe I have it beat! I have an Aluminum GS1100 swingarm and a KZ550 mag wheel with drum brake. The swingarm has a 20mm axle so I got KZ1000 bearings. the only part not 20mm yet is the brake cover. I'm either going to drill the one I have to 20mm or see if a KZ 900-1000 cover fits the wheel
