Yes 630...NOT 620.

I don't think I want to wait till it wears out....the benefits may be too go to pass up.

I did find the 530 to be much smoother. I just called Jeff at Z1E and he set me up with what I needed. I just told him what ratio and he has his own program to figure out the chain length and sprocket conversions. A word of warning. 'make sure that you loosen the front sprocket BEFORE you remove the chain'. It will make life a lot easier. I also like the Tsubaki "Sigma" chains. They seam to have the best longevity.

I am the original owner of a 1978 KZ1000 B2 LTD with 15/33 stock gearing. Been cross country twice with passenger, tenting stuff and everything we needed for us and the bike for 2 week trips. Had no problems starting from a stop, cruising or high elevations! Averaged 50mpg. From my shop manual and LTD supplement both standard 1978 KZ and LTD HAD THE SAME STOCK GEARING OF 15/33. Hope this helps even if it is 6 weeks after your original post.

'82 1000 LTD with stock 15/39 sprockets turning 4371 rpm @70 mph seems already tall enough final drive gearing to me.

My '76 KZ900-B1 LTD with stock sprockets @ 4000 rpm is slightly less than 60 mph.

These bikes were made to spin, and love to spin.
Have experimented with both 14 and 16 tooth c/s sprockets.
14 gave better acceleration but was too buzy while cruisng.
16 allowed more relaxed cruising but sacrificed acceleration.

Settled on stock configuration as best all around compromise,
which Ma Kaw's engineers were joyously thrilled to hear and are still celebrating.

Good Fortune! :)

I have a 530 conversion and am 2 up from stock in the rear and it turns 5K @ 70. I'm actually thinking about going up 1 on the CS to drop the rpm a little while on the freeway.
