Strange click every revolution of chain was created by moneypit
My 76 900 is finally starting to come around but for some carb issues but it clicks every revolution of the chain.
Master link? Or maybe too tight, it seems fine. Brand new RK o-ring chain and new spockets

What kind of master link is it? Rivet or clip?

Did you lift the tire off the ground and try to identify where the chain is making the noise from? Could be a tight master link. Is the master link hitting anything? Clip type master links are slightly wider than the rest of the chain. Chains can stretch unevenly, but yours is new. I would put it on the centerstand, and spin the tire by hand. You should be able to tell if there is a tight spot or if something is hitting. Check how much slack is in your chain while your at it. Do you only get one click in an entire revolution?

I spun it by hand and it wasnt as noyicable Ill have to take off the cover and check it out Monday
Had it in gear on the center stand at idle and it was audible
The chain seems even as you turn the wheel by hand
Maybe Ill vidieo tape it too and post?

Can you hear the click while riding? Does the click happen at the same time when your bike misses? Could the chain be slapping when the driveline unloads momentarily as the bike misses on that one cylinder? Chain could be dragging on the swingarm pivot. The swingarm angle changes when the bike is on the centerstand since there is no weight on the rear suspension. I'm still betting that the masterlink clip is hitting on something inside the cover. My bike had a screw that was in line with the chain, and the head of this screw was worn from contact with the stock endless chain. If that master link is hitting, then you NEED to fix that. Contact with that clip could dislodge it with disasterous results.

Definantly check the chain slack. If you run it too tight it will wear excessively. Did you install new sprockets when you replaced the chain?

Thats a little tight. My manual says it should have 1 1/4". Adjust if less than 1 1/8" or more than 1 1/4".

Sometimes you can tell if a master link part (or any part of the chain) is hitting something by noticing little nicks or scratches, or small shiny areas on the chain. Master links are usually suspect as they side plates are usually bigger and/or thicker then the rest of the chain. Worn front sprockets can click as well. Also, while you have the bike up on the center stand, and are spinning the back tire (slowly), check to see if the chain freeplay changes as you turn it (the center of the top of the chain will move slightly up and down). If so, the chain may be streaching more in different areas, or the sprockets (more often the front then the back) are wearing unevenly.

As mentioned before, if you see wear or damage on the clip, STOP riding the bike.
