No offense intended (well, maybe a little) but don't you DARE put such a hideous thing on that pretty bike!

My wife holds onto my belt on near my hips. She has gotten so comfortable and confident holding on that way that she sometimes dozes off on long straight rides.

Here's something else to consider about a sissy bar. Years ago when I was new at riding I crashed my old BSA into the back of a dump truck at about 35 MPH. My forehead (fortunately inside a helmet) hit the big steel beam under the tailgate of the truck. Upon impact, the beam stopped me and the bike kept going. The bike's front tire actually hit the differential of the truck leaving a tire mark on it. When my head/helmet came in contact with the beam it held me still while the bike shot forward, and it slid me off the back off the bike. If I had a sissy bar or backrest on the bike it would have driven my body forward with my head pressed against the steel beam and broken my neck. I was knocked out, but I walked away from that accident and eventually got the bike back on the road.

Good luck finding one. I've been looking for a sissy bar for my KZ1000J2 for a year with no success, although finding one for your 78 might be a little easier. Wife will not get on any bike without one (I can hear you all already with the wife options I should consider)!!!

I had one on my 650, but have since adapted it to my GS1100. Paid 20 bucks on ebay for it, the only thing wrong with it is one wing is broken off of the Kawasaki wings on the back. Another option would be one of the hidious corbin seats that have a backrest built in. It is so hidious I have one. I use it for the journey to Daytona Bike Week every year

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThey must be watching me type. I just mentioned five minutes ago about the Kawasaki Eagle with a broke wing and one poped up on the home page banner. they don't come along often either.

You could always get a K&G universal one. I had one on my 550 and have one on my 1000 for the same reason that you want one. They fit really easily and are plentiful and inexpensive on eBay.

I hear ya ,and I think alot of her fear might go away when she gets more comfortable on the back, there wont be such a death grip,I had one on my kz 400 when I lived in chicago and we went everywhere ,I was 18 and crazy, dodging cars on L.S.D,(not the drug)doing 80 through lower wacker drive, crossing some of the bridges was fun with the skinny tires on that bike, they are metal grates and you can see the river through them .anyway the backrest kind of made it nice on longer rides.
