a/b model body parts on d model frame was created by solomrus
i've located a z1r frame here in town, and i don't recall for sure if the body parts from a kz/ltd will work with the z1r frame. for some reason i think that most of the body won't fit, due to different mounting points.

it's titled to the current owner, and a decent price. will come with the d model cases and some other engine parts.

i'll pick it up either way, but i am curious about using my spares to get something up and running with that.

thanks for looking everyone, and any info is much appreciated.

yeah there is different tabs for one soidecover more than the other but the frame rails are not different and you can make em work with tabs welded or zip tie locations...a t.b said the tank is good and may have to watch the fork ears for touching and the tail takes the most work......the underside where the tank sits on the frame is different but some vibration rubber in two spots and your golden....z 1 r body parts show up a lot too....pics

the seat is different.the z1r has a couple hooks in the front and a latch on the rear.so you would need to fab up some hinge mounts and the latch mount for a side opening kz/ltd seat.both sidecover mounts are different from kz as well.what year z1r is it?
keep us posted,

ahh. ok.

probably not looking at a direct bolt on then. which is really what i was looking for.

well, details, as they stand now. 1978 z1r frame. swingarm. center stand. lower engine cases and trans from the frame with D model serial number. he said there might be some other stuff. not sure yet. price isn't too bad. going to look at it/pick it up tomorrow.

definately going to take little bit of fab work, but do-able.if i can help i can take pics from either my 1978 or 1980 z1r's if needed(seat mounting is the same from both).i have 2 buddies that took a kz's and have them mostly converted to z1r bodywork, one of them runs machII sidecovers.

sweet!

i'd always sort of wondered if anyone that lusted for a z1r would go to the trouble to build a replica. that is really cool.

either of them have molly graphics paint jobs? 8^)

i've got an atp turbo setup, and a built turbo engine sitting around waiting on something to put it in.

a m/g replica... WITH boost. yummy.

no hurries on this project. i figure i will sit on it for a while and amass parts. seat, tail, tank, triple clamps and controls....

meh. they never stop.

if you a few free minutes, link me or email me the pics you have! i'll add them to my z1r collection.

if you really want to put your built turbo motor in something i think i may be talked into allowing you to install it in one of my bikes and i promise that i'll tell you how it works, of course you would have to all the maintenence on it as it is my bike after all.mighty generous of me isnt it.
