For what it's worth, I would recommend finding the correct original C2 swingarm for the bike on ebay or from a recycler. This will keep things relatively simple, especially if you are fairly new to motorcycle repair. Installing a swingarm from a different make/model may require mods to components such as rear brake; wheel; sprockets; chain; shocks; etc. Unless you have a fairly high level of understanding as to how these systems work, and the differences between them from one model to the next, this could be a rather challenging task that could delay getting the bike on the road. Also, it could bump up the cost to an unacceptable level. There are other guys on this site that can provide first hand experience with these issues, but in I have found that, in general, a change to one component leads to changes to other components. On the otherhand, if you're in no hurry to get this bike on the road and if money isn't an issue, modifying this bike could be a good learning experience. In either case, good luck. Ed

I am having a hard time finding a C2 specfic swinger, was there anything special about this model I need to know about? Is a 900 or 1000 any longer than a stock 650? Will it bolt in with the correct spacers and 20mm wheel bearings?

Looking at the parts diagram on Kawasaki.com it appears that the KZ650C1, C2, and C3 use the same swingarm even though they use different sleeves, bushings/bearings. You should check this info with your dealer to be sure before buying. I thought there might be one on ebay, but you would need to verify with the seller that it's the right one. If not, some recycler may have one. Keep the following in mind if you decide on a longer swingarm (and assuming you're able to use the same wheel, sprocket, brakes, etc.) - tire may hit fender, brake line may not be long enough, shock geometry may change, new chain required. I'm not suggesting these things cannot be dealt with, they certainly can, I only suggesting that you be sure to make a list of all the items that may be affected as you plan this (or any) mod so you don;' have any unpleasant surprises. I've got two GS1100E aluminum swing arms for sale. One is just the swing arm and the other comes with the pivot bolt spacers, rear axle, rear axle spacers and use shocks (clevis bottom mount for the GS swing arm). PM if you are interested. The arm that comes complete was on my 78 KZ1000A for two or three years before I installed my Cal Fab.

I've got a spare for my 650. It fits the D1, not sure about the C model off the top of my head. PM if interested. Play nice and I may even powder coat it first. Anyways, I will look this weekend if you are interested. I bought it off ebay as an option to brace up for my 650, but may get a newer swingarm instead. Let me know.
