I want to improve my breaking capabilities with new calipers, perhaps dual piston calipers. Does anyone know of any aftermarket bolt on calipers for my 1978 Kawasaki Z1R or do I have to replace the whole front end?

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks,
I haven't found a "bolt on" upgrade for the old calipers on these old bikes and that's why I make my kits.
There were some kits made "back in the day" but they mostly used the AP Lockheed calipers that were just as heavy if not heavier than the stock OEM calipers. The braking was improved with the Lockheeds, but the handling suffered because of the Lockheeds heavier weight(more unsprung weight).
I used this kit on my KZ 900 for a short while. It had 2 twin piston calipers and I could have used a 4 or 6 piston caliper but this kit was primarily made for resale and was made for use with either spoke or mag wheel (Spoked wheels don't have the inner caliper clearances that mags do).
The twin piston kit pictured worked fantastic. You don't "really" need 4 or 6 piston calipers to have a great braking system, but they sure do look nice.

ds, the Z1r is one of the few I'd shy away from by updating. as a limited edition they hold resale value well beyond most Z's. stock brakes when working properly were better than their frames were capable of. my 2 cents g

I have found a pair of 6pots from a ninja 600. Not radial mount. Do you have a kit for these? I have rebuilt both calipers. New seals, dust shields and pistons but they still seep break fluid. Very frustrating. If I could find a pair of oem new calipers I would use them but there are none to be found. Any help would be appreciated.

Awesome! Where'd you find the vintage Brembos?

If it has tits or tires, it'll give you problems!
