Forget using the KZ750 top triple clamp on the GPz750 forks, the KZ750 is 36mm and the GPz is 37mm (83-85).

Get the handlebar holders off a 85 GPz750, they're about an inch taller than the 83 are.

Another thought, dirt bike risers which convert 7/8" bars to 1" raise bars @ 1 " and allow pro-tapers. No mod to upper clamp, a variety of stiff bars in diff, bends & lengths. Bars are expensive, but surely no more than machining/swapping upper clamps. G

The GPZ uses a clip om type of bar that has a unusual mounting , I found a set of 85 bars off ebay , I guess 84 is the same also ,,, Thanks for the input :)

Easily remedied by boring the diameter out a mil. Did it w/ some clip-ons from a Suzuki once for my "J".

How do you determine the maximum amount that can be removed while still maintaining the required strength?

That's why I never recommend that someone bore a triple clamp, I have no way of answering that question.

With the clip-ons there was PLENTY of meat left, so it wasn't an issue. I have a GS1150ES that I'm throwing gixxer suspension on; the gixxer forks are conventional and only 2mm larger than the 1150 forks and I'm going with gixxer triples and boring the stock clip-ons out the 2mm. Again, plenty of meat on 'em, so it's not a problem. If you go removing half the material or something, that's probably a bad idea, but in the cases that I've had it's never even been a consideration.
And remember 2mm of 'bore' is only 1mm worth of material (1mm in each direction).

So you're talking about boring out the clip-ons and not the triple clamp?

I worry about things :D
