Chassis stiffening mods?

08 Dec 2008 12:19 - 08 Dec 2008 12:26
#251453
I have found a few things here (one in japanese...lol) on the subject of chassis stiffening. I am looking for more information on the subject.

aside from the above request, can anyone tell me if the cases are strong enough on these engines to handle being used as a stressed member of the frame? in partciular I am talking about the 4's....not the twins....

I think the Magic web site sows the frame upgrades as well as any.

Basical, if u look at what Kawi did with the gpz frames u will know what has to be done.

The "1978 KZ1000 Stage III Project" link below will take you to some pictures of a Kosman Frame Brace Kit that I had welded onto this '78 KZ1000 frame of mine. I added two additional braces that were not part of this kit. Using the engine to help frame rigidity has been used on these Z1s and KZs for some time but this requires use of stronger and oversize bolts like what you might find in the Kosman Engine Mounting Kit.

Hey, good quality paint is so expensive that I decided to paint both my '73 Z1-900 and my '78 KZ1000 white years ago. Of course, paint is even more expensive now. And besides, white paint makes my bikes a little more visible especially at night.

Bob I have a white arai helmet that when I wear it everyone says I look like a human lotto ball going down the street. But the bike in white looks nice. Dunno why no one else likes white.

How thick was the sheet material used in the kit? Hve you been ale to get the bike out on the road to see what kind of improvements the kit made yet?

I may just quit being so damn cheap and order the kit along with the motor mount kit. I'd just like to hear something from someone that has ridden one with these two kits installed that can give it the thumbs up or down....
