i have a 2004 kx250 with no motor and really nice forks and triple trees with the weel and brakes and all.

i was curious, if i was to rake my bike out would these be safe to use on the road (with a steering stabilizer) and for dragracing (under 130mph)

i kno i know they'd look goofy on a kz1000, or would they.....

Don't know about those forks, but I know some guys use the front ends off KZ400 for this reason and they are going much faster then 160 mph! I would think the abuse those forks are designed for, they could handle the load, but not sure how the valving would work out though. How big diameter are they? That would say alot.

they are the big fat thick upside down forks with that gold coatin, i think theyd look awsome on a raked out bike.

i have wondered about this too but went with a set of busa forks instead 4 me elr.
only prob i came up with not to use them was most dirt bikes dont run duel calipers on the front.

I heard the advantage is that you go from a 19 inch front tire to an 18 inch hence better handling right? Is the kz 400 front end a bolt on thing for a z1 900?

its easier to get an 18" slick for the front and its lighter,i dont reccomend it for a bike you want to drive around town.;)

anything you have to do to the spring pressure or valving as some mention, mines going on a heavy kz1000.

Yep, we use S2 & S3 or H1 front ends, been 156+ mph. Set up for 18" wheel and all you have to do to the S series stuff is change the stem to Z/KZ type.s

Ever measure the weight difference between the two front ends?

Never weighed 'em but the S2 & S3 2 stroke front ends are lighter than the H1.The H1 has the same diameter forks as a Z1 but the S stuff is smaller at 34mm.
