Lets talk about kickstands was created by galaxian
Ok so has anyone come across a shorter kickstand for the KZ. MY bike is kz1000 that has been lowered and bending the kickstand is not an option since it would hit the rearsets. So i either make one modify one or check here to see if anyone else has any info about this. Any info would be great.

Hi Galaxian,I've got my kickstand off at the moment,I would expect it to be identical to a KZ550 A1 [1980].
Hole centre to back of heel[the bit that sits on the ground] is 250mm. Hope this helps.:)

My 1000 leans way too much in my view, but I am not sure if its correct either, there has been some talk about longer and shorter stands before, just dont recall what the final outcome was

My '78 1000 leans too far too, IMO. My '82 1000 is perfect. I've never measured their respective kickstand lengths, but I'll try to do that tonight when I get home. I'd love to have a longer kickstand for my '78. Or maybe I should just lower the bike.

My kz1000 was great until i put 17" wheels at both ends. Now it stands a little to straight. I want it to lean a bit more but didnt want to hack up my kickstand unless needed. I am going to meausure mine tonight to see if the 550 is an option.

I took almost 3 inches out of mine. Just cut it in half, grind the edges down to make a groove to fill with a welder. You will have to heat it up and fine tune it when your done.

I had th same issue with my KZ900, due to smaller wheels, (ZX636 front end and ZX6 rear 17"). I cut off the foot ~1" and welded on a new flat plate.

Worked just right.

galaxian, are you speaking of the whole bike as a project or more from a rear perspective displaying the lean on the side kickstand?
