Keep trying. I just did a Honda Goldwing tire last night and will reinterate. Do Not use soap on a tire! I put this tire on 2 summers ago and over the winter it developed a flat just from sitting from corrosion of the aluminum on the wheel from soap I used. Did the auto trans fluid as suggested this time after thorough steel wool cleanup of the corrosion.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I tried bouncing it, nothing. Anyone else have any tips or tricks?

I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

Maybe a larger volume of air would help?

I doubt tire irons can hurt the tire enough for it to not seat at all. The only advice I can think of now is to thouroughly wipe the bead with ATF as that helps to get seal having a little wet there, then tie your tiedowns around the tire. You need tiedowns so you can get them tight as possible. Rope and stuff like that will not do it. Put the tire out in the hot summer sun and get it nice and warm, retighten tiedowns again tight as you can, then bounce the tire around as you attempt to inflate. Kind of a do it all at once.

Super secret trick:

Remove the valve core and try to inflate it, the valve core seriously restricts airflow, and you need all the volume you can get.

Pop the side opposite the side that's not sealing down, and work the side that's not sealing up over the bead. Give it a head start, so to speak :)

How do you remove the valve core and what do you need to do it?

You need one of the metal stem valve caps with the "fork" thing on it's top. You can use that to unscrew the valve core by pressing it into the air inlet.

Or buy a valve stem tool at the local auto parts store for $1.79 or so :)

If you have a strap or cable hoise try wrapping it around the tire and then filling it with air until the bead locks, then stop & let the hoist off before filling the rest of the tire. I have never had that much trouble with one so Im just giving you some ideas. The American Chopper animals {Teutals} squirt lighter fluid in the beachball sized chopper tires on the wide wheels & light it. I personally wouldnt do it but Ive seen them do it on TV. They do lots of stuff that I wouldnt do though. Do that at your own risk and let us know if you survive it. Seriously give that a whole lot of thought before even thinking about trying it:S

I've never used it on bike tires but on big truck tires I have used ether (starting fluid) to pop them into place, but I don't recommend it.

Removing the valve core will probably do the job.

I assume you did clean the rim to remove all corrosion from the bead area?

Youre right, I belive it was ether not lighter fluid. Could always put a tube in it

I cleaned the rim, tried the lighter fluid flame trick (Would not recommend. Does nothing and the garage still smells like burnt rubber). Finally gave in and took it to a shop. I have a torn sidewall. Not sure where he is talking about but whatever. I will post pics later of the damage I managed to inflict with a tire iron.

I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?
