What is it?????

:blush: I have a rather embarrassing question. I had my 78 KZ 650 apart this winter. Seat and tank off, rear wheel and front sprocket cover off. The attached picture is a small rubber I found on the floor after I got it all back together again. I quess it is possible it is not from the bike but the only place I can think it came from was the bike.

Any idea where this may have been on the bike???

I don't recognize it. I doubt it's from the bike.

That doesn't look like anything from a 650 that I can think of. How big is it? Hard to tell from the photo.

Seat-stop...tank-holder(dampner)...frame-slider(protects in a fall)...handlebar insert...??:huh:

This thing is 13/16 high by 3/4 inch wide. I am beginning to think this is not from the bike. I normally keep my shop well organized but this may have come from somewhere else.

Maybe it bounced off a Hurley and got wedged in your bike somewhere. Oh yeah then the Hurley would have had to be in front of you....never mind.

I'd say put it in a place of rememberance and when you find something that needs one you will amaze someone that you have one!

It might have bounced off a harley. My friend rides one and sometimes I let him get in front (just to let him feel better about having to take out a mortgage on his house to buy a piece of obsolete equipment).
I don't think they put rubber dampers on Harley, it might remove some of that much coveted vibration. :laugh:

It looks like a rubber stop for you side or center stand. Just my 2 cents.

I agree. Rubber Stopper for the center stand. Possibly it is flat on the bottom because more conical end of it broke off. I wouldn't be surprised if you were to look closely at your center stand bracket (try searching metal plate that is attached to both your left tail-pipe and left passenger foot-rest)...that the conical end is still in the bracket hole, but the bottom (in the pic) has been broken off.

My few thoughts on that.

Is there a hole through it to be held in a place by a bolt or screw whereby the head of the bolt or screw is recessed into the "well" at the oval end?
