Thanks OnkelB, I've been reading up on things and will be looking for a 5/8 master. I am looking for a dual disc setup. I'm watching one on ebay thats at $50 + shipping, thats for both brakes, lines and a splitter. Do you think thats decent ballpark price?

Being that I´m in Europe I´m probably not the best person to ask about price - doesn´t sound too bad though, certainly less than I paid.

The SR rear rotors are scarce as they were only shared with one other model.

So,
I have a 1979 kz 650 C.... triple disc with mags and want to switch to spokes.... the front are pretty easy but all I have to do with the back is get the setup from a 1000 or 750? What years are the 1000 and 750 compatible with rear spoke disc and will covert to my bike?
Any help would be awesome.

So I've been lurking on eBay and I finally got a rotor and a caliper, I waiting on a splitter and lines. The thing I'm having trouble finding is the 5/8" master cylinder that I was advised to use. Is there something else I can use? Something off a modern kawasaki bike maybe? :S Help

I'm using a 96 GPz1100 master cylinder with 83 GPz750 calipers and 79 KZ1000 12" rotors, on my 79 750 twin.

Yes, you can use a later model master cylinder, just look for one with a mirror mount and dual disk brakes.

If I could get the front wheel traction, I think my bike would do a stoppie.

Not that I particularly want to though :D

Edit:

The splitter sucks, that's what makes them so hard to bleed. I ran dual stainless lines from the master cylinder all the way to the calipers. They were easy to bleed.

I have SR triple disks, when i did my rebuild my front master cylinder was junk so i bought a new master cylinder on ebay. It is an aftermarket unit for dual disks and not that expensive. I also made my own ss lines using supplies from pegasus racing.

I second the idea that steell mentioned of losing the splitter. Just get a double banjo bolt and run two lines. The master cylinder i bought has a pressure switch for the brake light also for use if you didnt have the switch in the splitter.

What kind of master cylinder did you get? An example would be great. Thanks

I'm using a 96 GPz1100 master cylinder

Has a brake light switch and the mirror mount, and even an adjustable lever.

I bought two of them, the other is going on my 750E project bike.

Rebuild kits are readily available from Z1, and I "highly" recommend one be installed.
