I was wondering if anyone has seen specks for making motor mounts to bolt in a gsxr motor. I know they have it for the older Suzuki GS bikes but i cant seem too find any for the KZ and GPZ, thought id look before making my own in fact id be more interested if anyone has done a later model zx10 or 9 swap

Why not simply buy a Suzuki frame? Then putting in a Suzuki motor would be child's play. You could even put on a Suzuki swingarm and front end and badges without modifications; you get the idea?

Streetfighters magazine has bikes like that in them quite often. If you pick one of them up, you can find the guys who did it, or a site to go to. Also there is a Streetfighters site, if I get a minute later I'll look it up and post a link...kids are needing my attention at the moment and I've got 'dial up'...a bit of an issue all it's own. Anyway, sometimes Suzuki guys like to put their stuff in the Kaws (IMO) b/c the Kaws look good. Can't hate 'em for that. :)

I don't know if I would be so negative about Suzuki motors. I had a 79 GS750 that is a very well built motor. The crankshaft ran on needle bearings.
There are good chevy motors and crappy motors. Same with all the other car makers.
Right now I'm liking my Kawasaki 650SR and my 79 Honda CX500.

It's simple, a gsxr engine 750 oiler puts out around 100 plus hp and is lighter too boot ,to get that from the gpz motor would require major mods and sufer in reliability.
I alreasdy have a zx9r usd front and zrx12 rear but with that gsxr engine i feel it would be like the 2 companies do with dirt bikes and use eachothers parts , besides it makes an awsome conversation topic at the local hang out.

I'm putting a GSXR/Katana 750 motor in my 550 , but I haven't gotten very far . I have stripped the 550 to the bare frame and have also removed the Suz motor . I bought a complete running bike to do the swap , I'll use all the electrics , switchgear and instruments . The motor seems no larger than the 550 motor from prelim measurments . It should be an easy fit into a larger KZ . The mounting lugs in the case castings are also a little narrower than the Kaw lugs . This should make locating it a little easier , as the cases won't have to be milled . It should also make sprocket alignment a bit easier too . I have also bought a Bandit oil radiator , it is much smaller than the GSXR part and will fit in the traditional oil cooler space . I should have some time to spend on mount fabrication in the next couple weeks . I'll post some pics and let you know what I find .

I remember reading about that Kawasaki and Suzuki got a tight history about engine design when Suzuki started with four cycle engines.

I the middle of 1970s the GS needed to wait for introduction because Suzuki where in court with Kawasaki, because of the piston design.
Kawa meant that Suzuki copy their design.

Disclaimer:
This I read sometime in the 1990s, but I cant find anything about this on internet now, so I am not 100% sure about this.

And we also have a man called Hideo "Pops" Yoshimura in this. :woohoo:

Suzuki and Kawasaki have always had a close relationship to the point that Kawi sold suzuki quads and bikes under thier badge ie KFX400 is a LTZ400, Besides i concider the two companies the most inovative and user friendly machines , you dont see many makes besides these being used by serious drag racers.
Its all about ideas and makin a machine that is your own and not generic, car guys have been doing it for decades combinning the best of 2 makes too make one sick machine.B)
