Why not split the difference?

There are a bunch of new 14 mm master cylinders on eBay right now for $39.00 plus shipping, and 14 mm is about halfway between 1/2" and 5/8", and it's brand new :)

I'm considering buying a couple myself, after that last high speed flatrack turn I had to make (to keep from waking up dead) when the master cylinder failed, I just don't trust the original 25+ year old master cylinders anymore.

Yep, that's one among many listed by the same seller. I think someone here bought one some time back and it stuck in my memory.
