I ground the weights on my 1015cc motor so i can use more lead timing and full advance is not reached until high rpm. Works for me. Bike revs quick and pulls like Budweiser Horses. I hav'nt got the bike to go get beer on it's own though.

Lighter springs will augment a cam with longer duration.
A cam of this sort will require full advance a bit sooner, hence the lighter springs. Max advance can then be dialed back at High RPM due to increased cylinder filling.

Same thing, lighter springs will cause the timing to advance at a lower rpm, as in cause the advance to come in sooner, or another half dozen ways of saying the same thing :D
