1980 LTD 1000..,1976 LTD 900, have the 1000&900 now. the rest are previous= 1978 KZ 650 B.., 1980 Yamaha XT 500..,1978 Yamaha DT 400.., 1977 Yamaha yz 80..,Honda trail ct 70.., Honda QA 50...5-1/2 hp brigs & straton CAT chopper mini bike...3-1/2 hp mini bike (WHEN GAS WAS ABOUT 45 CENTS A GALLON)!!!!

You can check to make sure your negative battery cable is free of any rust or corrosion where it attaches to your frame or swing arm for a good ground

Pete, Checked the cable Nice and Clean. Even re-terminated it to make sure. Same as before ?

Well thats good. You are narrowing it down. Sounds like your starter motor is fine.
If your bike is like mine then when the ignition is switched on power goes to the kill switch and to the starter button which activates the solenoid. If it were me i think i'd clean the contacts at the starter button and kill switch. Deoxit / D5 is really good for this. The connection in the righside handlebar switches are tiny and fiddly to get at but is should be worth checking and cleaning. A long time ago i had no start on a bike caused by a squashed bug iacross the kill switch contacts.
Next would be the clutch lever lockout switch which comes between the starter button and the solenoid
Not sure if i would totally rule out the solenoid just yet but clean contacts here are obviously good.

JR, I will try those 2 things ( Starter Button/Kill Switch and Clutch Lever Lockout Switch ) my next days off. Right now I have another Post going on the Engine Forum on First Ride. Least it's rideable Now !!!
