i just installed the used regulator according to the wiring diagram and now it stays below 14v. yay! thank you for your help guys!

Glad to hear you got it right. 
So the old R/R was bad, even when hooked up correctly? Probably damaged by having the Voltage sense Brown wire disconnected for so long. :dry:

i just went for a longer ride and beside the caburator still bitching, it runs good now. yeah the old one must have been dead. i got a used one for free for testing and its working. now i just have to get the carburettor running well when i have low throttle and decelerating and a shorter rear sprocket and its done
