I have the same exact issue as here:
69.46.28.106/forum/2-engine/566710-kz750-no-spark
Does anyone have the left pickup for the dyna s? I am pretty damn sure its not the cable. The pickup doesn't smell burned and looks fine so im not sure if its fried but it doesn't seem to work

The next thing to do is check the wire for continuity. Put your multimeter into Ohms mode, set it to a fairly low level, 200 should do fine, and check it out. The reading should approach zero. It will not be entirely zero due to the internal resistance of the wire itself. If it goes all the way to 1, or infinity, set the multimeter to the next highest level. If it still goes to infinity, it is the wire. If it does not, it is the 1-4 output of your Dyna S itself.

yeah i already attached another wire just to rule that out too. its 100% a bad pickup. i went to the motorcycle dude in town and he confirmed it. now im wondering if i could get the pickup alone because they only sell it as whole ignition online
do any of you guys have the left pickup of a dyna by any chance?

You did not mention a Dyna S in your original post.
You do know that you should not use the Dyna S with factory electronic ignition coils correct? If you do , the coil resistance will be too low and you will fry the Dyna S.
Dyna states the Dyna S should not be used with coils that are less than 3 ohms on the primary side. If you call Dyna, they may be able to help you get a new unit. They have helped out quite a few Dyna S owners.
What types of coils are you using?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI didn't knew it before. I have those ones:
What other ignition can I use for that? I only find the Dyna in ebay

Apologies if already covered in this thread.
As known:
• A wire from the left-side (9 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup normally connects to the ignition coil that fires the two outside spark plugs #1 and #4 (reportedly no spark on the bike at hand).
• A wire from the right-side (3 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup normally connects to the ignition coil that fires the inside spark plugs #2 and #3 (reportedly sparking on the bike at hand).
If not already done, may test to see whether connecting the signal wire from the right-side (3 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup to the other ignition coil will produce sparks on the two outside plugs #1 and #4.
If signal wire from the left-side (3 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup produces plug spark, but signal wire from the right-side (9 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup doesn't produce plug spark through the same ignition coil, it indicates that something's wrong with the right-side (9 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup or perhaps a break or short in the signal wire from the right-side (9 o'clock) Dyna-S pickup.
Good Fortune!

Yes thank you all done already.
So I got offered this one from a guy I bought parts already on eBay. Can I simply replace the dyna with this (probably) original one? Will it work with the part thats running on the shaft?
EDIT: looks like its not the same.
I also found another dyna used but its the 1031. I seem to have 1021. Should the pickups be the same?

Re: Coil grounding question
01 Aug 2014 11:00That is the factory pickup unit. In order to use it, you would need the factory timing rotor and an igniter box.element303 wrote: So I got offered this one from a guy I bought parts already on eBay. Most Dyna S units look the same and look like they can be swapped, but I have never done it, so I can't be sure they all swap.
