Thanks. I was hoping to encapsulate the diodes & resistor for the HEI igniter, and your warning switch is pretty much the way I was thinking of doing it. The form you made is very helpful. Thanks. JMK.

We always had a can of clear silicone rubber for potting. I would dip the board in it. Epoxy is OK but when it cures the expansion can sometimes stress the components it is around. I have used Epoxy sometimes but the rubber is less rigid.

Never considered that. Now that you mentioned it, I did a quick bit of research (as far as Wikipedia anyway) and it says that epoxy is not used for surface mount electronics for this reason. Looks like older thru hole tech (like this) is OK. I know a lot of power bricks are in epoxy and the old Kawasaki switch I pulled from the bike was certainly in epoxy.

Besides, things look cool in "amber";

Yea... nobody but us will ever see it :)

Cheers

I have read your article with interest, i am currently restoring a KZ900 and it doesnt have the brake light relay, but does have the warning lamp. Looking at the circuit it looks simple enough to make, but do have a few questions.
1. What is J1 on the diagram?
2. What is T2 on the diagram?
3. Obv i know what resistors are but what are their tollerance and rating 1/4w, 1/2w? or doesnt it matter.
4. What type of capacitor electrolytic, polyester?  Assume 16v will be ok.
Thanks
