I just noticed a lot of sparking from the points when they open. Upon closer inspection the moving point side has some pitting on it. According to my manual, that indicates a bad capacitor. I don't have a good way to test the capacitor. I'm going to get a new contact breaker, capacitor, coil, wire and plug. It's about $70 and all the ignition components will be brand new. I can live with that.

Thanks for the help. I'll post back after I get the parts installed. Should be running.

The coil I wanted to order from Mikes XS has different specs than the KZ. The secondary winding resistance is 8 k ohms and kz is supposed to be 9-14 k ohms. Could I use this coil or am I asking for trouble? Thanks.
