so with this bike even in neutral you need to pull the clutch in to start. it sorta stalled on me in first gear, so pulled the clutch in not in "neutral" and she started no problem, wanting to pull forward a little but figured thats normal. she started up ran fine for 5 min. i stopped the engine parked it for 15 min while i came back to the best forum made (kzrider) go back out and she doesnt turn over now. everything lights up, just no crank once so ever. when i pull the ignition switch from off to run you can see in the tach a tiny jump in the needle but no crank. battery is brand new and currently with a charge of 12.80

To my knowledge every KZ requires you to pull in the clutch to use the electric starter regardless of whether the tranny is in neutral or in gear- it's a safety feature. Ed

It doesn't hurt anything to start it in 1st. Or any other gear for that matter.
Make sure the kill switch is set Run.

When you push the starter button with the tranny in neutral, the key on, the kill switch in "RUN", and the clutch lever pulled in does the green neutral light or other lights dim? Ed

First check your fuses, with a meter or test light. Don't just look at them, make sure they are good and power on both sides.

Check where the switch goes into the perch, make sure it is in correctly.
Do you have some big dia grips or something? Might end up needing a new clutch safety switch.
