in the instrctions for the right hand switch......it said to connect the blue harness wire to brown harness wire using blue jumper wire provided. They say that there is a female brown 1 and 2 and either one can be used.

this might be where the power feed is comming from? what do you think, after what you said....why would they want me to take blue harness wire to 12v????

Any luck with swapping the wires from the harness to the rear light, to correct possibility of continuous tail light voltage being wrongfully supplied to the brake light.

kz900 light switch allows riding the bike with or without headlight and tail light.
However the brake light is supposed to function regardless of whether riding with the lights on or off.

Am thinking voltage from ignition switch > headlight on-off switch > tail light and dimmer switch > headlight.
And that brake light function isn't dependent on connections inside the headlight on-off switch or connections inside the dimmer switch.

If the light switch is OFF, does the brake light still stay on?

Good Fortune! :)

Sounds correct -- turning light switch off kills the tail light.
But -- does the brake light stay on regardless of the light switch position on or off?

Am recalling reported history that the brake light always stays on.

Good Fortune! :)

ok....with the key switch off all off.

Key turned one click the tail light is on, headlight is on....if the bar switch is on. if you turn the bar switch off the tail light is off, headlight is off.

When the tail light is on it is the brighter light ( stop light ) not the running light.

Would swap the wires into the rear light so that light switch ON burns the dimmer running light rear bulb filament (instead of the brighter brake/stop light filament).

And BTW, Who's on first?

Good Fortune! :)
