aftermarket tail light
24 May 2006 09:03
I've spent many an hour looking online for a tail light that will mount under my plastic tailpiece, with no luck. Anyone know where i might find something that will work. My rear fender is dented and i would like to clean up the rear and get rid of fender all together. Thanks.

I'm not sure how much fabrication you want to perform but a ZX12 taillight can be used without too much hassle. I did that with mine using a couple of "Z" shaped brackets bolted to the two rear tailsection mounting holes. If you need more info just ask.

i built a bracket that uses a clear lens LED in about an hour the other day. it's super bright and cost 20 bucks so i'm happy but i think 900s have a different tail piece.

Try a Harley catalog... JPCycles.com or DennisKirk.com - both of them have lights that work great under the tail section.
I bought mine w/plate mount for about $20.

I bought one of these. It's very bright and I'm happy with it. Shape looks to be right.

on my 650 streetfighter project I'm going with the tail light from a newer ZX6. It will be my turn signals also. Maybe you can find a newer light that works for you.

Thanks for all your input. I decided to go to my local salvage warehouse and find something that would fit. I think this is off of a 440 ltd. $10 and a little bodging and... Now i just need a corbin gunfighter and a set of rearsets maybe some clip ons....Or maybe i'll just put the money into gas. Thanks again.
