This is what I have on mine. I bought it at Radio Shack. I use it to power my GPS, heated gloves, Charge cell phone, and so on. I keep a plastic cap on it to keep out junk and rain.

I keep a small bungy cord on it to hold in anything I plug in while riding. I find that the vibration of the engine pushes out any connection I put in.

The setup is going to be a slime air pump, bikemaster 12V power socket, & a homemade pigtail mounted to the battery.

The one from CycleGear is supposed to be water proof and has a black wire & a green wire.
I can't seem to make out what gauge the wire is: it's either AWG 16 or AWG 18.
So I guess I'll make up an AWG 16 pigtail for it.
Shall I assume the green wire is the negative (-) & the black wire is positive (+).?

I wouldn't assume. Probably have to wait till you get it.
Honda uses black as positive and green as ground.
Everyone else seems to use black as ground.
In most DC electronics, red is positive and black is ground.
With green and black wiring... hard to guess.

I have it already - see photos above.
I guess the positive would be the center contact of the socket?
But how do I figure out which one is which?
Edit: I rigged the socket to the bike & using a 12V test light proved that the black wire is connected to the center electrode at the base of the socket.
So the black wire would be positive (+).? ... Correct?

It is obvious just looking at the picture which wire is positive and negative, and if you can't tell just by looking at the plugs on the wires than put a meter to the wires and the contacts in the accessory.
