Haha, I made it under the wire by 2 min. :)

Here's a drawing of how you can hookup the coil, condenser, battery, and a makeshift set of points to test the spark on a coil.



By the way, I assume you know this, but if you start the engine, it needs to be secured pretty well. If you try to rev it, the crankshaft inertia will make the engine want to fall over.

ok sweet, i think i got a good grasp of things now. Thank you guys, these diagrams are awesome and just what i needed. Im taking that engine to school tomorrow to get running in shop class. We are putting it in a riding lawnmower. Before they were going to use the original 18 horse briggs but they wouldnt help me with any of the work i did to it to clean it up and fix the wiring and stuff. I asked my shop teacher if i could throw that motor in there and he said yes:)

Sounds cool.
Most mowers use a ducted fan to cool the motor. This is because the mower won't really move fast enough to cool the motor like in a motorcycle. You may want to be sure the motor has access to cool air at least, or even try to rig up some sort of fan.

Definitely take some photos though. B)

oh trust me, with this engine, it will totally be fast enough:D Im getting rid of the hood too so it will havee plentyof air flow. Ill get some pics up soon.

i broke the S*** out of my finger this morning bringing that motor to school to get the welds done on the mower:D nail came off and everything went knumb!!
