Change old instrument cluster to new type?

I have a 1982 KZ1000J2 with a trashed speedometer and tach. Hard to find one and they are so expensive. I was interested in trying to put a modern digital type, like out of a newer KZ1000 or Ninja, etc. Does anyone know if this is possible or can even be matched up with wireing, speedo, tach, odometer, etc. I think it would look so cool to get a digital blue lit gauge set and so when people look under my cafe style windshield and see the blue glow it would look so awesome. If anyone has done this, please give me some advice. Thanks. I live in Lebanon, IL.

I'd use the search function on the forum as I believe somebody did that very thing on their bike a few months ago.

Looked at these?

Thanks for the pics and information. Is the pic from your KZ900? Did everything come with it to bolt it on? That wheel looks awesome. Where did you get all the parts for that?

Brad, if speedo/tach still good, you can get new cups and bezel rings in chrome or black chrome... I believe Z1 has them as well...

americanclassix.com/kawa_accessorieschrome.html

As for the Acewell line of units, pretty much everything is included except for one item... The mounting plate for the sensor... That you'll have to fab up yourself...

BTW, yes this is on my KZ900 but keep in mind, the front and rear end is ZX636 components.... Rotors are EBC....
