No points, dyna s ignition, have power to the ignition, but something may have failed on the module, will check ot next. May have had power to the coils all along, but did not get a tester till today.

Power it up not running. The coils should have 12v on one side and near zero on the other.

If 12v on both sides of both coils, then Dyna S is not doing its job.

If 12v on both sides of 1 coil and not the other, rotate the engine slightly. At some point, both coils should have 12v on one side and near 0 on the other.

If you can't get both coils to 12v on one side and 0 on the other, the Dyna has failed, or it has a bad ground. It grounds thorugh the engine so make sure the engine ground is in good condition.

It can also be that the wires from the coils to the Dyna S have failed, or the Dyna S doesn't have power on it. Check all of that.

If you used the little blue press-on connectors that tap into wires, they are usually faulty. Do proper splices with solder or crimp connectors.

12v to both sides. so either faulty coils or faulty Dyna S. I think i have an old coil around i can try to see if it is the coils at fault. The dyna has power to all the wires and up to the coils, just no power out, i even grabbed the plug while cranking, no shock at all.

12v to both sides won't likely be faulty coils. The Dyna S does not put out 12v to the coils. It only provides/removes a ground connection.

The Dyna uses the engine for ground. Are you sure the engine is grounded... ie. do you use the starter, or are you kicking it?

Also, it's likely the reg/rec failed or lost regulation and caused the Dyna S to fry. (Based on your blown light bulbs.)If the Dyna S is dead, the first thing to do when it's replaced/fixed is to verify the battery voltage doesn't go above 14.5v when revving.

Tried the old coil i had from when the dyna's were installed, no go, power to both sides of the coil and no spark coming out. grounds were clean. THinking i may have fragged the Dyna S somehow this time.

Have a volt meter to measure for battery voltage throughout the wiring diagram (on the coils)?

All I have is the B3, C3 wiring diagram.... Maybe it will help....

Any chance you could post that awesome color wire diagram in a downloadable format? I can't seem to pull it down off the website... Everything I have is in black and white. = a royal pain to trace everything with your fingernail and hope you don't miss a turn.

Factory manual wiring diagrams are a little like playing one of those maze books for kids, only assuming they made them in hell. While your KZ sits dead. :S

Found a used Dyna S on eBay. Hoping i can get it for about 1/2 cost of new. Will send my unit back to Dyna also and see if there is anything that can be done there. thinking their warranty is 1 year but not sure. If worse comes to worse, i can always go back to points (yuch).

Got a hold of Dynatek and told them my issue. they are going to look the ignition over and see if it is fried or not. It is still under warranty, and i did explain that a power surge is suspected in causing the problem. Just a shot in the dark, but at least i will know if the ignition is bad or not. Looking into the reg/rec too. They are on eBay for around $40 or Oregon Cycle can get me a new one for about $120. Lastly it appears that there was an arc from the positive side of the cable to ground, which i suspect caused the issue, but will check everything else too.
