Pics of a rear fairing tail light mount?

I've noticed that a lot of guys have removed their rear fender and mounted the tail light directly under the fairing. I'm looking to do the same thing on my bike ('77 KZ650C), but I'm not sure how to mount the light.

Can someone help out us guys who are less creative and post some pics of the brackets you fabricated in order to get the tail light mounted directly under the rear fairing?

Thanks!

Funny you should ask. I just snapped a pic of how i did mine. I mounted mine permenetly tho, i used the stock tail light and welded t strip of metal onto that, then i welded that onto the part were the fender bolted on. Here is a pic.

All I did was remove the original taillight and fender, then I bought a tube of JB weld and an aftermarket modern taillight from a bike shop, scratched up the top of the taillight housing with some heavy grit sandpaper and the underside of the ductail and applied the JB weld. Let it sit overnight and install on your bike.

I have had several compliments on how it looks. Very clean, stronger than a bracket and it still leaves room for the license plate to bolt up under the seat. You may have to bend the license plate slightly at the mounting point so it will not contact the rear wheel if you hit a pothole or bump a little hard.

It is one of the easiest mods and has one of the most dramatic visual impacts that a guy can do to improve the look of the bike IMO.

Here's what I did on my stock tail light. I cut a flat piece of steel then mounted the light to it with some spacers.

I went on a ride with my buddy on sunday, he has an 1100 shadow around a 1994? And I noticed the tails are almost identical but the tail light is flush with the plastic... Im thinkin about finding a tail light off of one of those and throwin it on my 80 KZ1000 LTD...

The stock ZX12 tail light fits this applications just fine....and it's very easy to complete the conversion.

I'll take a picture of the bracket needed when I get back in town in a couple of week and post it.
