i just picked up a 78 kz650 that has a 82 750 motor mounted to it.

problem is it wont get juice no where. all the wiring seems to be in the right spots but nothing. not even a headlight flicker.

i know there is a 2 diff regulator/ret for the two diff years.

the one on it now is a 3 wire plug with a red and white wire by its self.

is this the proper r/r?

Did ya check your fuses? Is the battery charged?

Yup all fuses are good and the battery is charged. I even put my snap on jump starter on it for extra juice.

Are you using the 650 wireing harness or the 750?

I'm assuming the latter. I can go look at my 750 manual in a min and see what rectifier leads should be.

Not going to be able to help on the 650 side what it needs. I don't have one.
KZ750R1 + 1991 ZR750 = KZR750R1
Better to be shot out of a cannon then squeezed through a tube. - HST

get your meter out and start at the battery checking for power as you go B)

Ok found a blown fuse. Small opening almost Missed it. Thing is this bike has a modded harness. So what the fuse goes to I have no idea. I will track it down.

Can some one post or tell me where I can find a online diagram for a 82 750

In the green ribbon toward top of screen, "point" to KZ Information and then click on Filebase.

Next, find and click on 1982.

Or just click here >> Above navigates to this screen

Click on particular model of interest.

Watch for a wiring diagram to unload.

Ok looking at the diagrams I noticed that it has the 78 r/r on it. Now I need to find out if it has had the the 78 alt put in it

Just looked at the wireing. It has the black wife coming off the ground to the batt and red and white going to the batt. And the. The 2 leads to the stator. So thats correct. More wiring fun tomorrow.

May also notice the black wire changes to black/yellow as ground to battery negative.

ok got everything running. it was just + grounded to the frame.

one thing

the wires to and the r/r get really hot i am pretty sure she is out.
