Seems to me the problem is there is more advice than acutal problem.......
Here's some more
Think about it.... Check the charging system output. It's either in or out of the range. That has to be resolved before any other guessing / theory is worth looking into.

@ Tony... DOH!... Me so sorry....
Harbor Freight Tools.... I had to buy a new Tach and came across this one where it has Tach, Dwell, Capacitance and all the other normal DVM functions...
For those of you still using non EI, this is perfect for ya for checking those nasty little condensers...
In either case, as Larry and some of the others pointed out, you need to insure your charging circuit is working so you must either purchase at least a volt meter of one sort or another to confirm...
Pretty much a voltmeter with continuity (resistance) measurements can be found anywhere in your local area.
Hardware or automotive stores all carry them...

i found all three of my multimeters. i knew i had them somewhere i'm a aerospace engineering student that dose all of his own auto work. the bike is sitting here in parts waiting for another reshipment from Z1. once it's here on monday i will put it back together and check the charging system.
i saw the post about the colors of the bulb. it is always clear just the filament is broken. -> so vibration. still going to check the charging system to be safe.
if it's vibration Rice Paddy is 2 blocks from me hopefully they have the bucket grommets for less then a arm and a leg.

If the system is seeing excessive voltage, the SMALLER bulbs usually blow first because they can't handle the power well. On mine, the instrument light bulbs blow first. Headlights are a lot more resistant to over voltage than the small bulbs.
Headlights are notorious for dying due to vibration.

Do like I did go with HID Xenon and you do not have to worry about voltage (it is good to 16v) or a bulb filament for that matter. Here is mine.

i forgot to mention that i did have a hid in it at one time and the filament in it became broken also after about a month. the bike will be running today. got the carbs and tank back on yesterday. just need to put gas in and sync the carbs. then I'll check with the multimeter. i have been looking in to high vibration h4 bulbs. if it's not voltage too high then i'll try one of those.

I think I went through 3 of that style, before rectifying the vibration issue.
They DID last longer, but they did blow.

so i got the bike out today. the electrical system checked out ok.
so vibration is my problem. i noticed on the way back from bike night that my head light bounces around as i ride i need to check out the bucket grommets before i make my order at z1 for jets.
