Has anybody tried www.oldkawman.com for parts, or www.crconlinecatalog.com?

1976 kz750 B1 Twin

O.K. I ordered the ignition kit from z1. Hopefully will be here next week.
New problem:
Starter sounds like it is constantly turning when I try to start it but the engine only turns over completely once in a while while the starter is turning. The engine turns a little then back, little then back, little then back and finally turns all the way over then does the same thing again and again? Sorry for the poor description. If I kick start it, it turns over just fine.
Will not start but back fires/ pops both out exhaust and carbs.
Only getting spark at the points every now and then. Battery is fully charged and I did the 12 volt to coil mod.

Your help has been greatly appreciated.

Never mind about the starter issues. After reading some other threads I think I need to remove the starter clutch, etc. as stated in past threads.

I'm pretty sure I have the 440 igniter, plug to adapt it to the 750 wiring harness, and the pickup, don't remember if I have the timing advancer though.

I need to check and see if I converted the 80 750G to electronic ignition, if I did (I think so, but don't remember for sure), the electronic ignition parts for a 750 twin that I have will be surplus as I'm building 750 fours now.

I would be interested in any surplus parts You have for the 750B. Z1 is getting me the oem ignition parts. I would like to go to a dyna type system if it is possible. Thanks again for all your help. :)

Just happened to see this here...can I use a Dyna coil with an otherwise stock ignition? And which one do I use...the 3.0 ohm one?

I prefer Accel 3 ohm coils on both points and motors converted to electronic ignition, but that's just my personal preference. We are putting Dyna coils on the Turbo this weekend though.

from what i've read, you can get a 4 ohm universal from z1 enterprises. the lower the ohm # the high the output. they say that a 5 ohm will put out good spark and not take a chance of burning up.

I'm using the 2.2ohm dyna coil w/the stock IE, no problems, but did have to modify the coil to use w/the stock mounting bracket. 3ohm also worked.

If you check out my thread about starting issues and also a thread linked by Biquetoast who replied in there, you'll see pics of our starter clutches.

In my case, the clutch was fine, and I have that grinding sound when I try to start my bike cold. But after doing the wired gorge ignition mod, new plugs, caps, some seafoam through the tank a couple times, and giving the throttle some gas when I start, it starts right up.

I don't sit there with the button on the whole time, I just flick the button and give the grip a quick twist as I hit it. If it doesn't start within a few tries, I get up on the kicker, treat it like it's flooded and pull on the throttle, and it usually starts up with one or two kicks.

But I know I still need to do a thorough tune up and hopefully it goes better after that. The wife won't let me drop anymore money into it now that it's running fairly well as is.

In fact yesterday I tried to get it to make the sound for my brother so he could hear it, and I couldn't get the bike to NOT start right up first try using the electric.
