I'll check the diagrams, but which 1978 KZ 1000 (A2, B2, etc) do you have?

If you are following the diagram for Snerff, he wasn't using the motor on a bike so he was using a generic switch.

That blue plug looks like the alternator output with neutral and oil pressure switch wires.

I can just draw a new one. Are you keeping it electric start?

Ogcoda wrote: Quick question, I have been working on my new wiring on my bike but I hit a few road blocks. One is the blue plug... what do I do with this?

Also my ignition is on a plug with a bunch of wires. I'm trying to follow the bare bones wiring picture but there is only one wire going in and out of the ignition switch on the picture.

That looks to me like it is the stator, oil pressure switch, and neutral switch plug based on the location the wires are coming from.

I was following the one you made for snerff, And I really would just like it as simple as possible. So no on the electric start. Also I'm not sure witch 1000 it is... I know I can check by looking at the vin but the bike is in my shop at the moment and I'm at home... is there any other way?

Someone else may know better, but I think if it's the LTD (B2), then it would have the 16 inch rear wheel with a fat tire. If it's the standard (A2 or A2A), or police (C1 or C1A), or Z1R (D1), then it would have an 18 inch rear wheel. I think you would know if it was the police bike or Z1R, as they would be distinctive, so it's probably an A2/A2A or B2 model, the easy way to tell the difference would be the rear wheel.

Since you're bobbing it, I'll assume it's the B2.

By the way, in case you weren't aware, there are actual wiring diagrams in the FILEBASE. There should be a few for the 1978 KZ1000 A2 and B2. You will see a more pictorial layout of the original wiring. But with the bare bones setup, mst of that is history. :)

Tried www.redlinecycle.com or www.americanclassix.com ? Both carry older Kawasaki parts. Other websites are www.reproductiondecals.com (they carry parts too)and www.johnnysvintagemotorcycle.com

Alright, now I am all sorts of confused. I am working on a KZ750G. I was planning on using this diagram untill I noticed it had points. Here is a pic of my headtube.

this is the code on my engine.

and this is whats inside my points cover.

I know some had factory electronic ignition, or this could be some aftermarket. Have any Bare bones with an auto style ignition/electric start that will work for this bike?

Thanks again for the diagram for my 750b. Probably saved that bike from going to the junkyard.

Xbmxxx, I believe someone added an ignition from a later model 750 twin or 440 twin. The G model originally had points.

See what you think of the KZ 750 K1 twin diagram I did for Locolobo on page 12 (on my browser, this current post is on page 14). That one has the factory ignition , (which is what you have).

The one for the K1 had a pink wire on the igniter box. If yours does not, then ignore the pink wire on the diagram.

Awesome, that had me so confused. That looks like it will work, except I plan on using a car style ignition, that will include the start, so no starter button.

In the picture loudhvx made me, it says to wire the pink blue and yellow from the regulator to rectifier. I cant see where to wire the pink blue and yellow wires to because all the wires on the rectifier are yellow. any help?
