Egads! I'm glad I don't need to do that on my KZ650. Ed

Yes no way around it, whether you have the stock tensioner, or a manual tensioner. I can have the carbs off in less than 10 minutes. Same for reinstalling.

stock pilot is 34, dyno jet kit does not appear to come with new pilots and my stock ones where in bad shape. I will have to order some 34.

but, you use yours as daily driver. with PODS no loss of low end usability?
if so.. then PODS and dynojet will be on order right away.

Thanks,

You are welcome. Again, I am no expert, just have a lot of dyno experience with TK27 Carbs, Pod Filters, and 4-1 exhaust.
Do you ever plan on getting a 4-1 exhaust? If so when the time comes I'll let you know how I had mine jetted. Stay clear of the MAC Exhaust. For now when running pods and stock exhaust, stay with what Dynojet Recommends as a starting point.

No immediate plans for 4 into 1 exhaust.
Dynojet kit is on order. (but no pilots) as well as UNI pods.

I am guessing the 120's I have in there now are a little to rich.
Just looking for opinions - you think I should order new 34 Pilot jets (go back to stock)? would the single size make that much difference?

Needle and Pilot Jet tend to work together. I'd recommend getting the stock pilot before installing the Stage 1, and following Dynojet's Instructions as a base setting.

Hey Corey! I’ve been Looking to do a similar modification to the original post here. I’ve seen your insight all over this for him and I’m thankful for your wisdom. I’m very new to motorcycles but I’ve been learning a lot very quickly. I have an 85 GPZ 550A i’d like to add pod filters but keep my exhaust stock. For that combination would you still recommend a Dynojet kit? Are their recommendations for certain jet/pilot sizes in conjunction with that specific combination. Not looking to make a race bike simply something that will commute and accomplish the look I’m going for! Thanks for your time!
