Hi all I have a 79 kz1000 st with pod filters and 4-1 exhaust.. I'm having alot of carby problems .. The bike will idle fine but won't rev past 3000rpm and if u try to pull the throttle on full it just stalls.. It's also popping and blowing small fames out of the exhaust.. I've checked the jetting and it has a 17.5 pilot jets and 118 main Jet
Any ideas or info would b appreciated

I would start with the ignition myself. Check static timing and that the advancer moves freely and correctly. Also check if it sucks false air.

It sounds as though it could be lean still. What Needle is on the slide valve and the clip position?
Before making any jetting changes, check the fuel level in each carb with the Clear Tube Test, a piece of clear tubing hooked to the drain as a sight gauge.

Someone here probably has a similar set up and may recommend jetting.

You state carb problems. Have you pulled them off and cleaned them ????
Once that is done go thru the whole tune up procedure, starting with the easy stuff 1rst.

Ignition issues are likely to cause flame throwing. Could be lots of unburned fuel from rich mixture, or so lean that it hardly fires, but I still suspect ignition more than fuelling.

Cheers your right checked ignition and found only number 1-3 cylinders firing now to try and fix that problem
