...It truly is another Religion. Not meant for all. Especially, the closed minded.

...I own several Kawasaki's and have been hard core Kawasaki since I was 14. I just turned 60 in July. I still have a great passion for the Green Meanies. But, somewhere along the line I strayed and have owned 2 Harley's over the years. Still have one, a 2005 XL1200C. An awesome ride! I swap back and forth between both brands. There are Kawasaki days and there are Harley days. Yesterday was a Kawasaki day. I hit the back roads, the windy-twisties and rode on the parts of the tires that most don't. Two hours of pure heaven. Last Thursday I took the day off. That was a Harley day. I did some highway cruising with a friend and we rode for half the day.

...Sure, some will say, "I can do both with my bike." That's true. I can do both with either on of mine as well. But, it's just not the same. Each ride has its own character. Some choose to pigeon hole themselves into one brand, so be it. Let them eat steak! I'd rather hit the buffet and sample it all.

...Long story short. Don't knock it, 'till you try it. You might just enjoy the feeling. ;)

A busa and a ZX14 will hit those same times at half the price of the screamin Eagle. And you can ride it across the country at the same time. Harley doesn't make a bone stock 10 second factory street bike. the power cruisers- KL900 Kawi "Eliminator", V65 Magna, Suzuki Madura and Vmax make all the Vrod factory derivatives look laughably slow at a fraction of the cost, and more reliability.

Vtwin air cooled pushrod bikes had their heyday, and the CB750 ended that run forever, the idea that a H-D was "fast" for anything other than being a Harley.

I don't have a problem with H-D other than I believe them to be horribly over-priced. I was especially disappointed when the let go of Buell, just as it was headed in the right direction with the 1125.

Looks like it ran in the high 11's.....you can make the call on what it ran.

I have personally done that time on my Sabre- and I weigh over 250 pounds, but, to be fair, I also have the gear mod. That helps you off the line a bit. the Sabre has more HP and less weight than the Magna. It is also far more rare and didn't sell that well. It is also much easier to launch, with it's rear suspension different.

magna-kw.tripod.com/history.htm

n 1983 Honda introduced the V65 Magna, an 1100 cc monster. “The V65 Magna hit the streets like a 600 lb chrome sledgehammer” Just to completely smash any remaining doubt as to its street supremacy, Honda brought their V65 to Orange County’s International raceway and had drag-strip legend Jay “Pee-Wee” Gleason unleash the V65 in an asphalt burning 10.92 second standing quarter mile. This established the V65 as not only the fastest accelerating production motorcycle but the fastest accelerating production vehicle of any kind. (edited to add- the Sabre is nearly 80lbs lighter, curb weight to curb weight, and has 5-6 more HP than the magna)

Regardless, a stock Vrod, and some modded Vrods, are much slower than most 1980s Jap bikes, and laughably outclassed by pretty much every bike post 1990.

You get a new 600cc SS bike and can ass-rape the Vrod all day long, in every category it wants to race. Period.

I have ran MANY a Vrod already against the Honda, not close, not even close. I can let off the throttle off and on and play with them while they are full out.

1125 R buell though? Now THAT is fast. LOL

And the Vmax vs the Vrod? Fugitaboutit.

A properly modded Z1 will hand the Vrod it's ass as well, done right. Not stock, but not that radical either.

Nothing like reviving a old thread, but a couple of years ago on 'PINKS' a stock 1983 Suzuki GS1100E was ran against a V-Rod, and beat it - bone stock.
My wife asked me if I still loved her - I said "Honey, I love you more than new carburetor boots ! "

The guy on the Suzuki missed a shift, and lost one race, and the other two races the V-rod got out of the hole first, but the 1100E put the motor on him and pulled past him. I think the guy on the Suzuki sold him the V-Rod back again -

Was out last month with a couple of other bikes.

Me on a 1000st
My mate on a z900a4
My other mate on a dresser Harley.

All I saw was a big ass topbox slanting left to right as it disappeared round the bends.
Neither kawa has a topbox

Sometimes its the RIDER not the bike

I'm not a harley boy by no means but I'll give credit where credit is due. Those V-rods run pretty good! Played with one last year and it totally got my respect. Yeah, it isn't a superbike by any means but it will definitely get you if your not expecting it. I think I have the guy talked into putting a turbo on it. He started riding an FZR600 a few years ago and now has the V-rod, way out pulls the 6 any day of the week but you know horse power is more addicting than any form of crack! Be it in the drug or woman form, it's still more addicting.
