I flat love my little bike and bracket racing I CAN beat a busa.

I know it don't mean chit but I'm gonna build the quickest
KZ650 I can.
Best number's I've seen are Denco's modded KZ650
that's said to have gone 10.97.slick and a bar.
So 10.80's no bar street tire should trump's that

1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.
Wiseco 810cc kit.
Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

Hell, yeah, Dave. This has been a great read and really cool to learn where you've been with that sweet ass bike. We met at the show at revival cycles and I saw your bike there, but didn't realize how serious it is... You reached out about riding last year, but this year for sure. You thinking about going to Leaky in may? Drag Racing....... Might be some new bikes to shame.

Many years ago there used to be a KZ650 at one of the local tracks. Ran slick and bars. It had to be modified for sure but no idea what he did to it. It ran in the 10.6-10.7 range all day every day. It was the only one I knew of that ran that fast. It was painted in the green Kawasaki color with stripes like the old GPZ scheme.

1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110

I did get the head on the motor last Sat. but when doing the
shims the smallest I had was 2.25 and still to tight so called
Curtis who did the head he said bring it to him and he'd tip the
valve's and get the shims in the 2.50 range no cost to me.

Got the head back last night and weather today sucked so I

Motor's all done but the clutch and that should be here mid. week
so started making some alum. motor mount's and valve cover
block off plate's.

Also broke down the carb's and ran them thru the sonic cleaner.
Based on jetting old motor I'm gonna go up to 20 pilot's and 122.5 main's.
because thats the largest i have.
Sudco's web site says 25 pilot's and 122.5's as a base line.
starting point.

Carbs look exceptionally nice and clean! :cheer:

Any tips on product or formula used in the sonic cleaner, how long immersed in the sonic bath?

Did float bowl interiors come out just as well?

The result looks as good or better than soda blasting.
