I just did a quick clean in a tin can with mineral spirits and went over each piece with a jewelers file if needed. Similar. Find a zinc plater. Tripp platting in Buffalo NY is who I use. I degrease them, touch up any wrench boogers. I send them to be blasted (Glass bead) then my blaster ships them to Tripp for me. As Kidkawie says you get volume discounts.

As for cross head, pan screws, I base them on the appearance. If the head is all boogered up from not using JIS tools they get replaced. If the head is good then overall condition. Some cross heads are just not worth it. Buy new. If you’re counting rivets, check the cross heads your replacing for a dot on the head. They are still available with the dot. Not all cross heads had the dot.
