Aloha
i am looking at purchasing a 73 with engine number 01784. It has the ports in rubber boots, I didn’t look under for any plugged ports (was not aware of this when I looked at the bike). I wonder if the head was changed or if they just put the new boots on and left the ports plugged?
not a deal killer but interesting to know.

Kawasaki first used the pressed in nipple, then the screw in nipple, then the nipple in the rubber boot.
Z1E-01950 has nipple in boots and also had untapped blocks where screw in nipple was previously.

Agreed, I’m also on the Honda SOHC forum (I have a 73 K3 750 that I restored) and these forums are great. I’m getting the 73 Z1 frame 01886 bike tomorrow, after some assessment I’ll be bringing it back. It’s a little rough but it will be fine.
